1. AmeriCorps NCCC

A non-profit Beautification Project

The AmeriCorps NCCC program provides volunteers to nonprofit organizations to assist with beautification projects like community gardening, school spruce-up and academic tutorial. Thus far the members assigned to BTN ConneXions Charter School have served alongside 6th graders on developing the school's community garden, painted the school's bathrooms, provided academic tutorial in Math and History and participated in campus beautification projects


Baltimore Teacher Network applied to be a sponsoring site for the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) in May 2016. BTN was selected in June as a site. The first round of two groups arrived June 13th. There are seven (7) members; two (2) group leaders Micalah Sims, Peter Nance, five (5) members Ontario Howard, Nasir Sanders, Clara Moore, Jamie Lockett and Ke'Onda Johnson. The members’ hometowns vary from Virginia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Indiana, Texas and Alabama. They vary in age from 18-23. Their career aspirations vary from law to culinary arts.
